It had been a long time since she'd been back here, and the two month journey had given her a long time to think. She hated moving back, but where else was she to go? Her late husband's family made it clear that she would no longer be mistress of their fine house, and she couldn't live there as a boarder... not with them. She had never really adjusted to life in Vienna, and although she'd been fond of her husband, his family had treated her as a second-class citizen.
